Those who work at Hixwood Metal in Stanley believe they know the way of the future. And it comes in the form of metal roofing.

The Clark County company began doing business in 1998 as a building component and metal roofing supplier in west-central Wisconsin. By 2004, they were manufacturing their own metal roofing materials for a number of applications from residential to agricultural to commercial.

One of their biggest changes came in 2012 when the company moved to a new location off of Highway 29 and added a retail store on site, with tools and other items available for purchase by area contractors.

“We’ve seen significant growth every year by adding more product lines and services,” said Noah Oberholtzer, who works in sales at Hixwood.

Visitors to the WPS Farm Show can learn more about the products available at Hixwood Metal Inc. by visiting their booth. Oberholtzer will be there with plenty of samples and a mixture of products and literature to help customers find just the right product or service for their needs.

Oberholtzer said the main agricultural product their company offers is metal roofing for barns and other agricultural buildings. And with a number of styles, colors and textures available, there are many options when it comes to planning for a new roof.

“Metal roofing can be recyclable and it’s sustainable,” he said. “It is our main push; we think it’s the way of the future.”

There is growing interest in metal roofing from the consumer side as well, which is shown by the increase in inquiries and the addition of a textured line of roofing for residential and small buildings at Hixwood Metals.

While the company is well-known locally, representatives are eager to spread into other areas of the state and expand Hixwood Metal’s customer base, especially in the eastern part of Wisconsin. It’s one of the reasons why Oberholtzer will be at the WPS Farm Show, talking with potential customers and getting the word out about the many products and services available from the Wisconsin company.

For Oberholtzer, the three-hour drive to Oshkosh is worth it as he gets to connect with customers and share information about the products he is enthusiastic about.

“I’m looking forward to a few great days at the show,” he said. “The most exciting part is getting to meet new and existing customers that stop by the booth.”
